The anti-cancer rider completed the 1100 kilometer cycle around Taiwan

NEWS 2023-11-23

Taiwan Anti-Cancer Association organized the 11th "Ride for Life" international cycling event around Taiwan, embarking on a ten-day journey covering an impressive 1,100 kilometers. Today (11/14), they completed this feat, arriving at the New Taipei City Hall Square. The event aims to promote the concept of 'influencing life with life,' encouraging more cancer patients to bravely embrace outdoor activities, participate in physical exercises, and combat the disease positively. ENERMAX has sponsored electric-assist bicycles and provided resources for two consecutive years, helping cancer patients fulfill their dream of cycling around Taiwan and showcasing the positive energy of technology.

The 'Ride for Life' cycle around Taiwan event, commencing from Taipei Mackay Memorial Hospital, followed a clockwise route towards the eastern part of Taiwan. Participants tackled the challenging and high-difficulty Su-Hua Highway, and the segment from Hualien to Taitung marked the day with the highest single-day cycling mileage, totaling 122.3 kilometers. Cancer participants in the island-circling journey, supported by ENERMAX power-assisted electric bicycles, overcame the daunting challenges of long distances and steep slopes, fulfilling their dream of cycling around Taiwan.

This year, ENERMAX sponsored two electric-assisted bicycles to help cancer patients fulfill their dream of cycling around Taiwan. They received the National Brand Yushan Award, the highest honor in the country. The Lusitano dual-function wave-making electric-assisted bicycle was one of the sponsored models. Additionally, the 2023 model, LANDEREX, with a mid-mounted motor, served as the lead and support vehicle. The LANDEREX boasts a high range of 120 kilometers on a single charge, allowing it to complete daily cycling tasks with a single battery. Liao Shufang, a cancer patient leading the way, expressed that ENERMAX's electric-assisted bicycle, "LANDEREX," provides comfortable power assistance, and its high battery endurance eliminates concerns about battery life during the lead role. This allows her to focus more on guiding the route and assisting other cancer patients in the team.

As the support rider, cancer survivor Huang Daozheng shared that he was diagnosed with liver cancer at the age of 30 and experienced a recurrence at the age of 48. Throughout his cancer journey, he maintained a habit of regular exercise. In his role as a support rider, he needs to constantly monitor the riding condition of the cancer patients ahead, coordinate with the front team and supply vehicles, and adjust the riding pace as needed. This role demands more advanced bike control skills and physical strength, especially when facing uphill segments. ENERMAX's electric-assisted bicycle, "LANDEREX," has been a significant help, making uphill sections more manageable and preserving energy to fulfill the support rider's duties.

This year, 60-year-old cancer survivor Teng Zi Lun from Malaysia, who had previously worked in Taiwan, shares a significant connection with the country. Empowered by the award-winning Lusitano dual-function wave-making electric-assisted bicycle with a mid-mounted motor by ENERMAX, Teng successfully conquered the 'Shouka,' the highest point on the Southern Cross-Island Highway, with its 4.2 times power amplification of every pedal stroke. While admiring the beauty of Taiwan during the island-circling journey, Teng was deeply impressed by the rice fields in the Hualien-Taitung Valley and Chishang, reminiscent of the scenic landscapes in his hometown. Inspired by this experience, he plans to participate in triathlon events upon returning home, continuing to combat the disease through active engagement in sports. Teng's involvement adds an inspirational international dimension to the "Ride for Life" around Taiwan event.

ENERMAX's chairman, Su Yen-Wen, was present at the press conference today. Paid tribute to the cancer patients who fulfilled their around-the-island dreams by offering a wreath. He expressed deep emotions witnessing the Taiwan Anti-Cancer Association's call for cancer patients to engage in sports, promoting the positive concept of "stepping out of the sickroom and into the crowd." Su mentioned that ENERMAX's brand mission is dedicated to 'driving a better life through technology.' For two consecutive years, ENERMAX has sponsored electric-assisted bicycles, accompanied the riders throughout the journey, provided technical support, and fulfilled corporate social responsibility by assisting the cancer patients in realizing their dreams.
